Safety Assist - The Short Haul Safety Program
Simple OHS Solutions is taking part in the Safety Assist - The Short Haul Safety Program.
This project improvement plan has been developed to bring about sustained improvement in the short distance road freight in regard to employer obligations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. The project will endeavour to develop practical solutions to identified industry hazards and address limitations in the management of occupational health and safety by developing employer and employee capabilities. The project has its overall aims to:
- Develop design and engineering solutions to address manual handling, slips and fall risk
- To propagate developed solutions across the industry
- To develop policies and procedures with employers and clients, including government agencies to address chain of responsibility obligations
- To ensure access to guidance material to support improvements in OHS
- To ensure establishment and maintenance of rest areas
- To investigate an industry wide safety accreditation process
